FIRST ON KHQ.COM: Firefighter Injured While Attacking Fire In Northeast Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. -

KHQ.COM - A Spokane firefighter was hurt Monday morning in N. Spokane while putting out a fire. It happened around 4am in the 700 block of N. Stone. The structure that caught fire was being used a lawn care business. No one was inside when the fire broke out.

The female firefighter hurt her knee and was immediately taken to the hospital. It's not clear how the fire started.

A person delivering papers in the area saw the flames and dialed 911.

    COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) - An Idaho police officer returned to duty after suffering a gunshot wound while responding to a call.    The Coeur d'Alene Press reports Officer Charles Hatley of the Coeur d'Alene Police Department returned to duty earlier this month and called the experience "eye-opening."

The one-vehicle crash happened around 6 a.m. Sunday when the vehicle left the road. Responding fire crews  worked to get the two people out of the car and stabilize them before they were taken to an area hospital with moderate injuries.
