PASCO, WA - While you may have heard about Black Friday and Cyber Monday, what about Giving Tuesday?
This is the second year for the national celebration of Giving Tuesday, and several local groups are taking part.
December 3rd, Columbia Basin College is encouraging friends of the CBC Foundation to contribute their holiday gifts to help fund student scholarships for 2014.
The CBC Foundation's goal is to raise $30,000 in one day. If you'd like to help out, you can click here.
The American Red Cross is also taking part in #GivingTuesday. The Red Cross says "We can't prevent disasters from happening, but we can make sure that we're there to support people who need it most in the wake of an emergency."
The organization says it hopes you'll help contribute by purchasing a gift from the 2013 Red Cross Holiday Giving Catalog by clicking here.
For families struggling to rebuild their lives after a disaster, $30 will help provide hearty meals for 3 people.
For the new mom who finds herself in a shelter after a house fire, $50 can help provide infant care supplies, including diapers and formula.
For two people, $100 can help provide one day in an emergency shelter, with cots to sleep on, meals throughout the day, and personal toiletries.
