BENTON COUNTY, WA - Emergency crews had to use the Jaws of Life Tuesday morning to get a trapped driver out of his car.
Firefighters say the driver of a green Mercury was heading east on Locust Grove Road, south of Kennewick, when he slid off the road and rolled the car on its top. A second man was in the car and got out on his own.
Benton County Sheriff deputies are still working to find out exactly what happened. But, first responders say it appears speed and slick roads played a factor.
"You know if you have traction tires...studded tires, those help out, but with high speeds they don't do a whole lot. So, just slow down and drive for the conditions," said Captain Matt Gutzmer with Benton County Fire District 1.
An ambulance took the driver to Trios Health. Deputies wouldn't comment on the condition of the driver, but say the passenger suffered minor injuries.
