TSA Now Accepting Applications For Faster Security Checks

Posted: Updated:

NBC Right Now-- The TSA is now accepting applications for people who want to enroll in a pre-check program that will get them through security checkpoints faster.

With PreCheck, travelers can leave their shoes, light outerwear and belts on and keep laptop computers in their cases at security checkpoints.

In the past, only members of certain airline's frequent flyer programs or people who belong to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Global Entry Program could get through security faster, but TSA Administrator John Pistole said now U.S. citizens can enroll online or visit an enrollment site.

To apply for the program, you need to provide identification, fingerprints, and an $85.00 enrollment fee.

So far, about 12-million people are currently enrolled in the program.

Right now, the only place you can actually drop off your application is at the Indianapolis International Airport.
