Tri-Tech Students Learn to Give Back at Project Warm-Up

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, WA - A new kind of volunteer is helping out a charity in Pasco this holiday season.

Students from Tri-Tech Skills Center are helping out at Project Warm-Up, a group that makes blankets, hats, warm clothes for people in need.

Since most Project Warm-Up volunteers are seniors, Director Holli Calder-Cox says kids take over the meticulous tasks that are tough for older hands, while learning the importance of giving back.

"We have like, everything," said one Tri-Tech student volunteer, Jennifer Contreras. "And there's people out there without blankets and stuff and it's really cold, and we should give back."

"They don't always have the financial resources to stock our yarn shelves," Calder-Cox said, "but they have time, and believe me an hour of volunteering is worth five hours of video games."

If you'd like to help out, you can drop off yarn, fabric, cash or other donations for Project Warm-Up inside Community Action Connections in Pasco.
