SPOKANE, Wash. - Many airlines have commemorative art they display on their airplanes to pay tribute to various things. Over the past 20 years, KHQ's Reed Schmitt has had a hobby of photographing planes as the fly in and out of Spokane International Airport. Reed sorted through over 30,000 photos to gather all of the planes he photographed that displayed commemorative art.

Some feature the logos of universities in the cities they serve, others are based on the flags of the states they fly to. Some are retro liveries which depict the airlines' early looks or an airline that they merged with. A couple paint schemes feature pro sports teams. There are even Disney characters, a giant salmon and an orca as well.

WBTV reports someone decorated the "Cone Weed" with tinsel and ornaments last week. The weed has been growing unencumbered across from the Huntersville Fire Station for a year and has amassed a cult following.
