SPOKANE, Wash. – The Chiefs ended their scoreless power play streak at the 6:54 mark in the first period when Mike Aviani and Jason Fram found Adam Helewka for the game’s first goal. But the Seattle Thunderbirds outscored the Chiefs 7-2 for the rest of the game, ultimately ending in a 7-3 loss for Spokane, on Friday night at the Spokane Arena.

Spokane was whistled for eight penalties, giving Seattle 26 minutes with the man advantage. The Thunderbirds took advantage of those opportunities, scoring on three of the eight chances. Spokane only had one more power play chance after Helewka’s first goal, but couldn’t capitalize.

Branden Troock tallied a hat trick for Seattle and added two assist for a five point night. Troock has now scored 4 goals and 3 assists in just two games versus the Chiefs this season.

In the third period, during a Seattle power play, Helewka scored his second goal of the game as he skated through the Thunderbird defense for an unassisted shorthanded effort. Helewka also returned the favor from his earlier goal and found Aviani crashing the net for an easy score at the 17:09 mark.

Eric Williams was replaced in the third period after allowing four goals on 16 shots. His replacement, Garret Hughson, allowed three goals on nine shots. The Chiefs managed just 15 shots on goal, with T-Birds netminder Justin Myles turning away 12.

Spokane travels to Kent tomorrow for their third game in seven days against Seattle. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m. and will be on 1510 KGA. The Chiefs return to the Spokane Arena next Wednesday, December 11th, to host the Everett Silvertips. Next Saturday, December 14th is the annual Teddy Bear Toss game as the Chiefs host Prince George.

Tickets for next Wednesday night and the Teddy Bear Toss are available in-person at the Chiefs' Ticket Office, over the phone at (509) 535-PUCK, via TicketsWest outlets and online at www.ticketswest.com.
