The Gift of Giving: Alternative Holiday Presents

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, WA - You can gift a present to a friend this holiday season, but sometimes the gift that means the most is one that gives back.

Saturday in Pasco, they held an alternative gift fair. Many local non-profit groups set up tables and explained what their organizations do to give back to the community. Once you pick your favorites you can personalize a donation in honor of a friend or family member.

"In this season of giving it's important to remember giving not only to your friends and family, but to give to your community, to give out to the entire world," explained Mark Painter, one of the event organizers. "To put that energy out into the world as the world has given you energy."

The donations were even placed in cards written out by calligraphers that detailed just exactly what the money was going to, i.e. "your gift will feed 17 people in need".
