KENNEWICK, WA - A brand new outdoor ice skating rink is coming to downtown Kennewick, but this one's a little different.

Organizers with the Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership are putting the final pieces of a synthetic rink together at the Centennial Flag Plaza, on the corner of Benton Street and Kennewick Avenue.

When finished, it will be 32 by 64 feet and will hold around 30 people at a time. The seasonal rink cost a little more than $30,000 and is expected to last about 20 years.

"We looked at the cost of renting one and the cost was really exuberant for what you got. So, we said maybe we can purchase one--looked to buy one--and that way we have it for years to come," said Tim Dalton, the executive director of the Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership.

The ice skating rink will be open December 14th and 15th & December 21st & 22nd, from 11am-1pm, 3pm-5pm and 6pm-8:30pm. It's free, unless you need skates which are to rent.
