KENNEWICK, WA - It was just one year ago that Deborah Fox was hit by a truck on Clearwater Ave. and dragged hundreds of feet, now one year later she has come further than anybody thought possible.

"All I remember is dragging and yelling," said Fox.

She does not remember their faces,  the men from Les Schwab Tires and Clearwater Collision and Towing, that ran to her rescue and pulled her out from under the pick-up truck.

"That's all I had in mind was just to get her out of that pickup because I knew she was in pain by the way she was screaming and I didn't want her to be under there so I did what I had to do," said Miguel Guillen, Les Schwab Employee and Rescuer.

Fox now calls them her heroes.

"I'm excited, I didn't even know that she was going to be in our store so it's going to be good to see her after the one year reunion," said Guillen.

Tuesday she was able to show off her progress, walking without the help of her cane, something Miguel Guillen hoped he'd see, but never expected.

"Oh it was awesome for them to say that I look better too because sometimes I feel like i'm not getting anywhere and them saying well you look better, it's like that's good to hear," said Fox adding that it has been a rough year with surgeries, physical therapy, and spending last Christmas in the hospital. But she has stayed positive

"If i made it this way there's something that left for me to do, bigger and better things," she explained.

Fox will head back to Harbor View Medical Center on Thursday, exactly a year after her accident.

She is hoping to surprise the doctors and nurses that helped her like she surprised some of her local heroes today.

"You guys are my heroes, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them. It's true, it's very true," concluded Fox.
