YAKIMA, WA - The Yakima School District said it does not have enough substitute teachers for the rest of this school year.
School administrators said they are looking for emergency substitute teachers for all the campuses in the district.
The new substitutes will get training for teaching and classroom management after they are hired.
The district's Human Resources Department said a lot of current substitute teachers are being hired on permanently, and they want to increase their pool of subs.
"We're no capping it at you know we're going to take the first 100 or the first 50. I don't think so, I think we have a need for more subs in the district," said Kelly Garza from YSD Human Resources.
Applicants need a Bachelor's Degree or higher, have an open availability to work on a day-to-day basis and pass a background check.
There is an informational meeting on Thursday at 4:00 in the district's administrative office if you are interested in a position.
