  The Yakima Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at the 200 Block of North 18th Avenue. The first arriving apparatus found a motor home "fully involved" in fire. The motor home was parked less that two feet away from the home at the address. Fire had spread to the exterior of the home before crews could deploy water attack lines to the fire column.

Fire crews were able to take control of the fire within 10 minutes of their arrival. The motor home was a complete loss and there was significant fire damage to one exterior side of the house. There was some smoke and water damage to the inside of the house but fire crews kept it to a minimum.

What was the probable cause?
  Fire Investigators have determined that this fire was caused by a mechanical problem to the engine of the motor home. There were no occupants of the motor home or house injured by this fire. Crews were released from this fire approximately one and one half hours after arrival.
What was the extent of the damage?
  The fire destroyed the motor home leaving it a complete loss. The house was significantly damaged on the side where it was exposed fire from the motor home. Damage to the house is estimated to be about $30,000.00 and the value of the motor home is approximately $5,000.00.
