A man who has already endured more than most is facing a new challenge. Over the weekend, James VanCuren's snow tires were stolen from outside his garage before being installed on his truck. "I'm not taking the pass this time of year with bald tires," said VanCuren.More >>
DEER PARK, Wash. -

We are very pleased to report that our viewers' overwhelming generosity answered James VanCuren's Christmas miracle.

Thanks to your donations, he is now able to drive to Seattle to meet with his lung transplant doctors.

After we aired a story Tuesday night about VanCuren's stolen snow tires, the Spokane community instantly came together in a great time of need.

"I can't say thank you enough," expressed VanCuren. "It means I get to go to Seattle, it means life, it also means I get to go to Montana to see my dad for the first time in a long time."

VanCuren estimates over 200 people called the Tire Center in Deer Park over the last 24 hours to help.

"I stayed here until about 7 last night answering phones, and it was just amazing," explained Scott Massingale at the Tire Center. "People calling in wanting to donate their time, their money, anything they could do to help James and his family out in a time of need."

And, lucky for VanCuren, new snow tires are just a small piece of this story.

"[We installed] a brand new set of tires, brand new set of wheels, his oil's getting changed, his front end's getting done," explained Massingale. "This rig is going to be ready to go for James, any time he needs it, any of his appointments he needs to get to or anything."

On behalf of everyone here at KHQ, we thank you for your generous support in granting VanCuren this Christmas miracle.

SPOKANE, Wash. - It took a jury only a little more than two hours on Wednesday to find Daniel Arteaga guilty for the murder of Kim Schmidt. The prosecution said Arteaga was very jealous that his relationship was ending with Schmidt and she was moving on. They say that's part of the reason why he decided to kill her at the beginning of 2012. The defense disagreed saying that Arteaga was not there when she died and they think she may have even died of suicideMore >>
