NBC Right Now-- Family of Washington State Supreme Court Justice, Tom Chambers, says he died Wednesday night from mouth and throat cancer at the age of 70.
Chambers lived a very accomplished life. He was born in Wapato and went to Yakima Valley College before heading to Washington State University and University of Washington School of Law.
Voters elected Chambers to the state's highest court in 2000, then again in 2006.
Before joining the high court, he had an impressive legal career, earning a reputation as a pre-eminent trial lawyer,
He was also named Trial Lawyer of the Year in 1989 by the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association and in 1996 by the American Board of Trial Advocates.
Chambers retired last year in Issaquah. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, his three children and six grandchildren. There will be a public memorial to honor chambers will begin at four on January ninth at the Museum of Flight in Seattle.
