KPD Looking For Two Cars Stolen While Left Unattended

KENNEWICK, WA - Kennewick Police are looking for two cars that were stolen early Thursday morning.

The first theft happened on the 1200 block of West 7th Avenue. Police say Sawpal Nee, 38, left his car unattended while it was warming up and when he returned, the car was gone. The car is a 2000 dark green, 4 door, Honda Accord. Police say the car may have also been involved in a hit and run accident a short time later in the same area.

The second theft happened at the Circle K on the corner of 10th and Washington. Police say Ignacio Sanchez Dominguez, 39, left his car running in the parking lot of the gas station. A white female was seen getting into a car and driving away. The car is described as a red with brown top, 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spider.

Police say this kind of auto theft is common this time of year because people leave their cars running to warm it up.

Police say leaving your car unattended as it warms up is illegal if it's parked on the street. However, you can leave your car running in your driveway or on other private property if it's locked.
