Heritage University in Toppenish is getting ready to deliver food to hundreds of hungry families.
TOPPENISH, WA -- Heritage University in Toppenish is getting ready to deliver food to hundreds of hungry families.
Friday, students from the university's Enactus club packed boxes of food donations that will be given out on Saturday to families in need.
This is the fourth year for the Pantry of Hope campaign, and the club says every year they see more donations come in.
"They just don't have the basic household necessities that they need during the winter season, and in the past year we did 150 families and this year we are able to do 300 families now," said student organizer, Arturo Santana.
The food boxes include a turkey as well as dry and canned goods.
Saturday morning, families who signed up for the program can pick up the boxes of food at the Toppenish Food Bank starting at 8:00 a.m.
Enactus club students will also make some home deliveries.
