Officials say postal worker hoarded over 17K pieces of mail
NEW YORK (AP) - A United States Postal Service worker who prosecutors say hoarded away more than 17,000 pieces of undelivered mail in New York City allegedly told investigators he was overwhelmed by the amount of mail he had to deliver. But officials say Aleksey Germash told them he "made sure to deliver the important mail." Germash was charged Thursday in Brooklyn with delaying or detaining mail. He declined to comment as he left the federal courthouse.

Neighbors in the area called police after hearing a crash, coming out to investigate and finding a person in the street. Arriving officers and medical crews began lifesaving efforts, but were not successful and the pedestrian died.

The News Tribune reports the man apparently was attempting to pull a wooden pole out of the ground on a small farm in Parkland. The Pierce County Sheriff's Office says he had attached a rope to the bottom of the pole and the tractor and at some point the tractor flipped.
