Yakima Firefighters Help Out One Of Their Own

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, WA-- Firefighters in Yakima and the community are coming together this week to help out one of their own.

Firefighters from around the region joined together Saturday morning at the West Valley Training Center for a pancake breakfast to raise money for Captain Darin Deccio.

Deccio was diagnosed with cancer and is now in the recovery stage of treatment.

Firefighters said hundreds showed up for the breakfast, which is a testament to Deccio's impact on the community.

"Darren has been a big part of the fire service and the community for a long time.  He's been with is for years and before that he was with east valley fire for many years so seeing everybody come together and just the brotherhood of the support from everybody is just amazing," said West Valley Fire Volunteer Coordinator, Travis Christopher

If you could not make it Saturday morning, you can still help out, just call West Valley Fire to find out how you can make a donation.

All proceeds go directly to help pay for his treatment.
