Mt. Spokane High School junior cross country standout John Dressel finished second in the Foot Locker Cross Country Championship National Finals today, Dec. 14, at Balboa Park in San Diego, Calif.

Dressel crossed the line with a time of 15:10, only three seconds behind the National Champion, Grant Fisher, of Grand Blanc HS in Grand Blanc, Mich. Dressel and Fisher were side by side going back and forth for the lead over the final minute-plus of the race. Dressel passed the Midwest Region Champion with only 150 meters left, only to watch Fisher gain an extra burst and win the race in the last 50 meters.

Dressel placed second in the West Region final at Mt. San Antonio College on Dec. 7.
