UPDATE: KHQ's Alex Rozier has obtained new details after speaking with a law enforcement source. The source told Rozier that the victim's son believes the suspect(s) are "involved in the oil industry in North Dakota." Family and friends told Rozier that the victim does business in Spokane, Moses Lake and North Dakota. Rozier also was told by the source that the victim's wife hid in the closet after the shooting as she frantically called 911. The wife was with her husband inside the home at the time of the murder. He was shot multiple times.

Detectives told law enforcement to be on the lookout for a certain kind of van they think MAY be connected to the shooting. A law enforcement source also told Rozier that a call came in Sunday night from a woman across the state saying, "my father-in-law was shot".

Rozier was also told from a law enforcement source that detectives are pinging a certain cell phone in North Dakota to try to locate someone who may be involved.

We will update this story as soon as we get more information.

UPDATE: The Spokane County Medical Examiner responded to the scene on Monday morning to examine the body. The victim has not been identified and the shooter is still on the loose. Keep checking back to this web channel for updates.

ORIGINAL STORY:

KHQ.COM - Spokane police officers are looking for a man who shot and killed a man during an apparent home invasion Sunday night at a home on Spokane's South Hill. It happened at a home in the 2500 block of S. Garfield.

Lt. Justin Lundgren says the victim's wife called 911 about 7 p.m. and said that an intruder in their home had shot her husband. He died at the scene. The woman said the intruder pointed a gun at her husband, who tried to calm the man down. She ran upstairs and hid in the closet and then heard gunfire.

Officers blocked streets for a search with a police dog but did not find the shooter. SWAT also searched the neighborhood looking for the shooter.

Police say he's described as a white male wearing all black clothing.

Police will be at Hutton Elementary just as a precaution Monday morning.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
