PNNL: Science as Art Digital Calendars Available

Photo Credit: Photo Credit: - A dozen stunning images depicting basic and applied research at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory are showcased in a 2014 computer wallpaper calendar and other digital products, all available to the general public. 

The images were selected from staff-submitted entries in PNNL's fourth annual Science as Art contest earlier this year.  They reflect advances in diverse research areas, ranging from telecommunications and battery development for large-scale energy storage, to radioactive waste encapsulation and greenhouse gas capture and storage, and were captured using instrumentation at PNNL and EMSL.  

Adjacent to each image in the calendar are the names of the PNNL research team members as well as research partners from other institutions.  Also listed are the federal agencies that funded the research. 

The 12 images and the stories behind them can be downloaded and used as a 2014 wallpaper calendar on desktop and laptop computers, or as background images on phones and other portable devices at
