RICHLAND, WA - Construction continues at the Hanford Reach Interpretive Center in Richland.

On Monday, Representative Doc Hasting made his first visit to the site of the new Hanford Reach Interpretive Center.

He played an instrumental role in getting access to the land for the new building. Hastings got a complete tour of what the building will house, everything from the exhibit rooms, to the floor to ceiling windows and the outdoor amphitheater.

Rep. Hastings said seeing it come together is exciting and he is looking forward to not having to use his imagination to visualize the finished product.

think its going to be something when it gets done, I look forward to the grand opening sometime this summer when they have all that put together. When you see something physically being built it's obviously a positive," said Rep. Hastings, (R) 4th District.

The new Hanford Reach Interpretive center is a project almost 10 years in the making and is set to open next July.

Congressman Hastings said he is pleased with the construction's progress and expects the new building will bring more tourism to the area.

He also said he is excited to highlight the area's rich history, like the ice age floods and the Manhattan project.
