YAKIMA, WA -- A new business in Yakima is opening its doors Monday.

The McDonalds on the corner of Yakima Avenue and South First Street welcomed customers for the first time Monday. A steady stream of people ordered food and many were excited about the new restaurant.

But it's located at one of Yakima's busiest intersections, and not everyone is thrilled about the location.

"We've got a good pedestrian vibe going with the Historic District down here," Brad Hoffa said. "And at this particular intersection it will bring a lot of cars coming in and out so we're a little concerned about that."

"It seemed like there was a dead spot here in town," David Parker said. "Now you don't have to drive very far to get to a fast food spot. I also like how they made it look."

To blend in with the downtown, the McDonalds changed its normal design to look more modern including lowering the famous arches to be closer to ground level.
