Yakima Salvation Army Helps Hungry Families This Holiday Season

YAKIMA, WA-- Yakima's Salvation Army is helping to feed hungry families this week.

Tuesday and Wednesday, volunteers gave out boxes of food to hundreds of people who need extra help providing warm meals for their families.

The Salvation Army said they do this every year because they want to provide the best Christmas they can to people in the community.

"This is something that we take pride in.  It's something special to us and we want to make sure all the families in our community have food on the table for Christmas and new toys for their children to open on Christmas morning," said Lisa Sargent from the Yakima Salvation Army.

This year the organization plans to give out more than 900 boxes of food, and families don't need to pre-register for the food.
