SPOKANE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE PRESS RELEASE
Body Recovered From Spokane River

Tuesday, December 17th, 2013, at about 12:30 p.m., a man was walking his dog on the Spokane River bank near the area of 11300 E. Upriver Drive. The witness saw a body stuck on a fallen tree on the north side of the river bank.

Deputies responded to the scene and confirmed there was a deceased male caught in the tree. The Spokane County Sheriff's Office Dive Team responded and was able to recover the body. Due to the fact it was an unattended death, Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Detectives responded to document the scene. Once that part of the investigation was complete, the body was released to the Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office. They will determine the cause of death and provide identity of the man once an autopsy is completed.
