TOPPENISH, WA - Students at Heritage University need your help as they gear up for a trip to Belize to help locals learn new skills.

Members of the ENACTUS Club are accepting power and hand tools for their trip next month.

Once in Belize they will help locals in two small villages learn how to use the tools to make furniture out of scrap lumber in an effort to boost their local economies.

Club members said they are doing this because they want to provide locals with a better quality of living.

"They aren't encouraged to seek an opportunity, so what we decided was pretty much by creating these ventures they would spark an interest in them and be able to look for new forms of income for their families and create a more sustainable household for their families," said club president, Haydee Navarro.

If you want to make a donation, students are accepting new or gently used tools through December 22.

You can drop them off at the Arts and Sciences building at the university's campus in Toppenish.
