RICHLAND, WA-- Gesa Credit Union is taking extra precautions to protect their customers after recent credit fraud problems at local grocery stores.

The credit union sent out new debit cards to a select group of users that they worried were at risk.

A letter with the card says they are re-issuing cards because of "security issues" at local grocery stores "out of an abundance of caution."

A Gesa spokesperson confirmed the grocery store chain affected was the Yoke's Fresh Markets.

"We wanted to be proactive especially during the holidays and get people new cards just in case they could've been affected by the fraud," said Brian Griffith, Gesa Credit Union spokesperson.

Gesa Credit Union also just released a new app Thursday that will send you immediate alerts directly to your phone if your account is at risk of fraud or unusual activity.
