KENNEWICK, WA - The Kennewick Irrigation District is working on many projects and wants to share them with the public.
KID held an open house here at the Benton PUD Auditorium Thursday and one of the big projects they shared with people is an expansion of a Cherry Creek reservoir.
The upgrade with impact 1,500 KID customers.
The $900,000 project will triple the size of a recently bought private reservoir.
The new reservoir will replace the current system that uses 6 pumps. The new reservoir will hold 3 million gallons of water.
"This is going to decrease KID's long term cost and improve functionality and reliability of the water service that they are provided," said Jason McShane, KID.
The reservoir construction is planned to be completed within the next year.
