If you're hoping to get into the legal marijuana business in Washington state, it's time to get your paperwork in.
OLYMPIA, WA - If you're hoping to get into the legal marijuana business in Washington state, it's time to get your paperwork in.
Friday, December 20th is the last day the Washington State Liquor Control Board is accepting applications for licenses to grow, process or sell marijuana for recreational use.
As of this week, the board had received 2,444 applications, including 512 for retail stores. The state isn't capping the number of growers or processors, but it says it will only allow 334 pot stores statewide. Some areas are expected to face a lottery for the retail licenses.
The application window opened November 18th. The deadline is 5 o'clock Friday night.
Previously, all applications were due by December 19th at 5 PM. However, the board decided the extension was necessary to conform to the rules' effective date according to the state Code Reviser.
