PENDLETON, OR - Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, hot chocolate, and corn dogs?
In Pendleton, the deep fried food is indeed a holiday favorite. That's because the Lind corn dog stand has been around for 47 years. Bernerd Lind's father started it as a way to make extra money all those years ago when he was an electrician on strike.
His special recipe was such a hit that customers from all over have been demanding the Lind corn dogs ever since. In fact, their largest one-time order ever was 90 corn dogs!
"What people do is they buy 20-30 at a time and freeze them so they can have them all year long until we come back next season. so, we try to make it up in volume instead of making money off one or two customers. That's what my dad said to do and what we're still doing today," said Bernerd Lind.
The Lind's sell corn dogs from Thanksgiving through Christmas ever year, seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
This year, due to a late start, they'll be extending their sales through the New Year. The stand is across from Walker's Furniture in Pendleton this year.
