YAKIMA, WA. -- As many people worry about what presents they will get their loved ones for the holidays, some teens in Yakima are simply worried about where they will get a hot meal.

The Yakima School District is working to help these kids. Stanton Academy is offering free lunches for up to 1,000 kids a day during the holidays. The school principal says the new program will offer a big boost to kids in need.

"We pride ourselves at Stanton and definitely in the Yakima School District is trying to maintain a continuation of services for students," Clinton Endicott said. "The thought of a student going maybe two weeks without a good hot meal is pretty hard to bear."

The free lunch will be offered at noon on Monday and Friday of this upcoming week and every day the following week. No identification is required to get a free lunch and students of all ages are welcome.
