KENNEWICK, WA - It was quite the holiday party in Kennewick on Wednesday. For the 10th year families and their children gathered at Sandstone Cafe for a Christmas dinner, gifts, and Santa.
A few weeks ago staff at Sandstone Café put up a Tree of Needs and any customer could buy presents for children in need. The owners of the café found the children through local churches, domestic violence shelters, homeless shelters, and other organizations.
And come Christmas, all their hard work pays off.
"A lot of emotion. Yeah, a lot of emotion. I have some customers that came today just to watch the presents that they bought get opened, you know, because it captured their hearts," said Sandstone Cafe owner, James Ortega.
Santa stopped by after dinner to hand out hundreds of gifts to children. Around 70 kids showed up for the event.
