YAKIMA, WA - The Union Gospel Mission in Yakima is serving meals filled with cheer to those in need Wednesday.

Just about everyone had a smile on their face today at the Union Gospel Mission. Nearly 200 people were served a delicious meal of broccoli, potatoes, ham and salad. You could tell by looking at their faces that these people were going through some terribly difficult situations. And many of them were so grateful for the meal.

"Well it's a blessing," volunteer Bill Newell said. "I'm very thankful the lord has provided everything it has. Not just the food but all these wonderful volunteers. As you can see there is a lot of hustle and bustle around us."

The Gospel Mission has been offering hot meals to people in need for over 70-years. Wednesday night they will be offering Christmas dinner to anyone who needs a lending hand, all in the name of Christmas.

A lot of people use 7th Avenue and Huntington Place in Kennewick as a through street to access US 395. Many residents say when drivers are  going 60 MPH on their 25 MPH street, that they can't even let their children or animals play outside near the street.
