Kennewick House Fire Cause Under Investigation

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, WA - Kennewick Firefighters are trying to figure out what started a house fire when no one was home.

Firefighters say the home on the 700 block of West 43rd Avenue first caught fire in the garage, and then spread to the home and attic.  Neighbors saw the fire from across the street and called 911. Since no one was home no one got hurt, and crews quickly contained the flames.

Firefighters say the fire mostly damaged the garage, attic and kitchen, but luckily they were able to protect and salvage the living area and what was inside.

In the meantime, the Red Cross has stepped in to help the family.

The Kennewick Fire Department was assisted by units from Benton County Fire District 1, Franklin County Fire District 3, the Benton PUD, the Red Cross and the Kennewick Police Department.
