Moses Lake Officer Fatally Shoots Man

UPDATE/MOSES LAKE, WA - Officials have identified the 54-year-old man who was fatally shot by Moses Lake Police.
    
Authorities say James Eshelman of Moses Lake was shot Monday evening after officers responded to a disturbance at a home. Police reports say Eshelman was armed with a large knife when officers contacted him.
    
Authorities have not identified the officer involved, but the officer has been placed on paid administrative leave. Chief Dave Ruffin says the incident is still being investigated.

The wounded man was taken to a hospital, where he died. Neither the man who was killed nor the officer was immediately identified.

Moses Lake Police said no additional information would be released until Tuesday. The multi-agency Columbia Basin Investigative Team will investigate the shooting.
