ELLENSBURG, WA - The Washington State Patrol says a man from Ellensburg faces several charges after a series of events starting with a car crash.
Troopers say around 3:30 on Friday morning, 20-year-old Gunner Nicholas Genge had been under the influence of drugs or alcohol when he rolled his car on Thrall Road, five miles southeast of Ellensburg, and crashed into a fence.
Troopers say Genge then went to a nearby home on the 4500 block of Thrall, knocked on the front door, got into a pickup in the family's driveway and drove it into a car that was parked in the garage.
Kittitas County Sheriff Deputies say after Genge crashed in the garage, he tried to go inside the home, but deputies stopped him. They arrested him for attempted residential burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and malicious mischief. The State Patrol also arrested him for a DUI, impersonating a police officer and driving with wheels off the roadway.
Troopers say Genge's car was totaled in the first crash, both of the family's cars suffered reportable damage.
