TRI-CITIES/YAKIMA VALLEY, WA - NBC Right Now first told you about Richland Public Library offering free Microsoft courses last month, but they are not the only library in our region offering the online classes.

Mid-Columbia Libraries, Yakima Valley Libraries and community college libraries in the area are also partnering with Microsoft to offer the Microsoft IT Academy to Washington residents. It's a state-wide collaboration that's being funded by Microsoft and the state legislature.

The courses include everything from basic courses on how to set up an e-mail account to advanced certificates in software programming.

"This is an amazing opportunity for people to take classes they could never afford to take...there are 400 libraries in the State of Washington that are signing people up. You can't help but take these classes--they're free and you'll learn a lot," said Earlene Mokler, the network administration at Richland Public Library.

If you need help enrolling or want more information you can call your local library, or just stop by.
