UPDATE: Man Who Shot Himself Was Not a Guest at Pasco Best Western
A murder in a Spokane apartment leads detectives to a man who shot himself in the leg at a Pasco motel.
UPDATE/PASCO, WA - We have new information regarding a man arrested at a Pasco motel who accidentally shot himself in the leg Saturday night.
According to Jim Gibson, the manager of the Pasco Best Western Plus, 26-year-old Brandon Mellon was not a guest at the motel at the time of the shooting. The manager says Mellon drove a car to the motel parking lot and was looking for a public phone when motel staff discovered him injured inside his car.
When Mellon shot himself in the leg, he hit a major artery and is
currently in critical condition. He was initially treated at a
Tri-Cities hospital., but was then flown to a hospital in Portland.
Once police get him transferred back to Washington State, he will be charged with first degree murder.
Spokane Police say Brandon Mellon is a Repeat Offender with 10 Felony Convictions such as Riot with a Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, 1st Degree Criminal Impersonation, Theft, and Eluding.

Spokane Police Major Crimes detectives believe 26-year-old Brandon Mellon is responsible for a deadly shooting that happened on Friday night. The name of the victim has not been released.
Pasco Police were called to the Best Western on N. 20th Avenue around 9:40 Saturday night on reports of a gunshot victim. Mellon is now at a Portland hospital receiving treatment for the alleged accidental self-inflicted leg wound.
Once detectives have a warrant they will begin work on the extradition process to officially place Mellon under arrest.
