YAKIMA, WA - Owners of forest land in Yakima and Kittitas counties may be eligible for federal help to clean up their property.

Staff at the State Department of Natural Resources said their Cost-Share program will pay up to half the cost to thin and prune trees and remove debris.

There is a forest health hazard warning in effect which means some areas are too dense and more susceptible to damaging insects, disease and wildfires.

You can apply for the program online.
