USDA Buying $126M Worth of Produce for Families

Posted: Updated: - The United States Department of Agriculture is making an effort to help millions of Americans who rely on the federal food stamp program.

The USDA recently announced it will buy more than $120 million worth of produce that will be distributed to local food banks, shelters and charities across the country.

The move comes after Congress cut the food stamp program, formally known as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), back in November. SNAP helps feed around 47 million Americans.
