YAKIMA, WA. -- Drivers in the Yakima area also faced some hazardous driving conditions Tuesday morning.
Icy roads led to an 11 car pileup on the Yakima Valley Highway Tuesday morning. The Department of Transportation says they saw a spike in vehicle accidents over the last 24-hours. They recommend drivers take it slow whenever the roads get slick.
"Icy conditions can be really treacherous because they come upon unexpectedly," Don Whitehouse from the Department of Transportation said. "You don't know when that next little intersection might be icy. So approach that intersection really slowly."
No injuries were reported in that multi-car pile up. The dangerous conditions also closed the Yakima Air Terminal for several hours this morning.
