YAKIMA, WA - Several groups in Yakima County joined together to hear a man speak about the legalization of marijuana.

Dr. Kevin Sabet worked in the White House as the senior advisor for President Obama on drug policy for two years.

Unfortunately, poor weather canceled his flight into Yakima, but he gave his presentation over Skype. Sabet warned about kids being influenced by large scale marketing campaigns and other unintended consequences.

"Brain research that we're learning about and how it can affect IQ long term and permanently is very scary," said Anna Marie Dufault. "And I just hope that people have the opportunity to listen and take in what he has to say, and think about it for themselves."

Currently, the City of Yakima is moving forward with their plans to ban marijuana businesses within city limits. They'll hold a public meeting on the ban January 21st.
