KENNEWICK, WA - Things are starting to take shape at the GESA Carousel of Dreams.

On Tuesday, crews moved several crates containing the carousel's rounding boards from their warehouse on Columbia Drive up to the construction site at the Southridge Sports Complex.

Organizers says the construction process is right on schedule for a grand opening later this year.

"The carousel mechanism and parts are completed as of today. That's been a years long process, 12 years of preparing this thing.  The carousel mechanism is ready to go.  When that building is ready, we will install and create a carousel inside of it," said Eric Van Winkle of the Carousel of Dreams Foundation.

The rounding boards were all painted and decorated by volunteers. They'll be stored at the Southridge site until it's time to install them in the spring.
