Haystack Fire Burns 400 Ton of Hay in Yakima

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, WA - Yakima County Firefighters say spontaneous combustion caused a fire that burned about 400 ton of hay.

Firefighters say around 1:45 Wednesday morning, they found a large haystack and shed on fire at a dairy farm on the 1400 Block of Lewandowski Road.

Crews stopped the fire from spreading, and dairy farmers were able to salvage some of the bales. Firefighters say they'll let the remaining hay burn itself out.

No one was hurt.
