NBCRightNow.com - The Washington State Dental Association is making it easier for parents to connect with dentists that accept their children's insurance.
The Dental Referral Program for Children is an initiative that went into place at the beginning of the new year, just in time for the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
More than 500 dental offices, across the state, are participating in the program. The database includes information about the types of insurance dental offices accept, what languages they speak and what accommodations they have for children with special needs.
More than 54,000 children are currently enrolled in the program and that number is expected to grow
Washington and Nevada are the only two states in the country that require all children to have dental coverage under the new law. This means any child needing a routine exam, cleaning, x-rays or fillings will now be covered.
