YAKIMA, WA - A suspicious structure fire on North First Street in Yakima is producing conflicting reports.

Firefighters aggressively fought a garage fire around 10PM Thursday night, looking for transients that were believed to be living inside.

The home owner told NBC Right Now off camera that there were couches in the garage but no one was living there.

One neighbor who said he has never heard of any trouble from the house noticed the smoke.

"I thought it was fog because the light was on so it looked like fog," Fermin Abundes said. "But then I saw a whole bunch of smoke coming out that way and this way and it was just spreading around and going up."

The garage and its contents are considered a complete loss. The fire department is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
