WSP Processes Car for Evidence Involved in Yakima Police Shooting

YAKIMA, WA - NBC Right Now following up on last week's officer involved shooting at a Yakima car wash.

The Washington State Patrol is now processing the car owned by 23-year-old Rocendo Arias for evidence.

Police said Arias was sitting in a parking lot at 3 a.m. when Officer Casey Gilette went up to the suspicious vehicle. Police said Arias was holding a replica of a handgun with his finger on the trigger.

The officer shot four times hitting Arias once in the head and killing him.

Officer Gilette is working with an attorney and submitted a written report detailing the incident.
