The two are believed to be in a red 2004 Ford Focus with a Rhode Island license plate #942649. Authorities say the two could also be in a gray 1992 Chevrolet Astro van with the Washington license plate #ABR1512.

The AMBER alert was issued after a family court judge decreed there was an immediate risk to the boy and his mother, but the risk was not specified.
