Westgate Elem. Kindergarten Teacher Wins Classroom Makeover

KENNEWICK, WA - A kindergarten teacher from Kennewick's Westgate Elementary is this month's Classroom Makeover winner.

Westgate students packed into the gymnasium for a special assembly on Thursday, and watched as we surprised kindergarten teacher Mallory Flesher with a $250 check from Kadlec Regional Medical Center.

Miss Flesher was nominated by a parent who praised her ability to make every child feel important, and she already has big plans for the money.

"I'm just so excited for all the hands-on and physical activities that we could do. We do a lot of coloring, paper and pencil, and paint, but there are so many different mediums that kindergartener really love to get their hands in, like playdoh and clay. I'm just so excited to get them more things to touch," Flesher said.

This is Flesher's first year at Westgate Elementary, but she says the teachers and staff have gone out of their way to make her feel welcome.
