UPDATE: Alaska Airlines confirmed flight 619 headed from Las Vegas to Portland Thursday night ended up having to land in Yakima due to equipment failure and foggy weather.

The airline said a piece of equipment needed to land on foggy conditions went out during flight.

Because there was too much fog in Portland and Seattle, the plane landed in Yakima where Alaska tried to repair the equipment.

The equipment could not be repaired quickly, so Alaska Airlines sent another plane from Seattle to Yakima Friday morning to pick up the 93 passengers, and take them to Portland.  That plane landed at PDX at 9:00 am.
